Famulus Notebook

The notebooks, and the example pages

Famulus Notebook is the place where a question is asked, a Partitur runs, and the answer stays with its check. It listens on port 5118. The six example notebooks are already in that viewer: each can be run, and each paragraph can be annotated. Annotation uses the Lektor on this machine; the proxy path /famulus-notebook asks for a token and does not give that session.

Pirckheimer: correspondents 1520–1530 open page
Schöner: saphea open page
Kepler: lex and natura open page

The viewer lists the same six, plus Journal and Goldens, in its own sidebar. Ausführen runs the notebook, Neu ausführen runs one block, and the pencil on a paragraph opens the annotation panel.

fr: citations in the guard

The guard (development/famulus-notebook/src/famulus_notebook/guard.py) checks generated text against its evidence. Every fr: address cited in the text (up to 50 per text) is resolved in the DuckLake through famulus_proof.lake.resolve_fr and added to the evidence as fr_refs:

Field Content
found true, false (address not in the lake), or null (famulus-proof or lake not reachable)
zitat, zitiert_als citation text and the address it was recorded for (item or nearest ancestor)
text first 600 characters of the item’s first text layer
snapshot lake snapshot id
luecke reason for a gap

An unknown or unreachable address is recorded as a citation without evidence, never passed silently. Address grammar: Famulus reference.

In VS Code

The notebooks open in VS Code Insiders as a document to read, with the artefact of the selected cell beside them and one pane for the cell, its artefact and Famulus. The extension is published in the synced platform folder, so any machine installs it with one script. See Famulus Notebook in VS Code.
